Exhibit Recap: Our CBCF Conference Experience

Exhibit Recap: Our CBCF Conference Experience

September 19, 2018 0 Comments

Throughout the past few years, Magnepels had the opportunity of exhibiting at several annual conferences. This past weekend, we were back for a third time, exhibiting at the congressional black caucus foundation's (CBCF), annual legislative conference. The CBCF Annual Legislative Conference (ALC) is the leading policy conference on issues impacting African Americans and the global black community.

This year marked the 48th CBCF conference and more than 9,000 attendees flooded the nation's capitol at their Walter E. Washington, Convention Center. The audience was a melting pot of individuals including subject experts, industry leaders, elected officials and citizen activist  The magnepels team was on full display at this annual conference. We were able to tell our story, build with new customers and re-connect with old ones. We were also accompanied by our good friends over at Different Regard. They showcased some of their new fall accessories for men, and they were a hit.

We are also fortunate enough to be interviewed by the CBCF media team and others about our CBC experience. To provide insight in the experience we wanted to answer a few common questions we received about our exhibiting experience.

What was your biggest takeaway from the conference?

The conference was a point of reinsurance. It confirmed that we have a quality product and that there is a clear market for individuals who values such items. Our takeaway was simply added confidence to keep pushing the brand for the world to "stop stabbing your suits/garments".

Was it worth it?

This is the most common question proposed by other fellow merchants who are seeking to exhibit. The simple answer is yes. Magnepels are about the dollars but also the relationships. Those are two categories that are weighed in during our analysis of an events worth. We seek to cover our cost and then some but also want to build upon that "social capital." Building "quality" business relationships is key and we want to believe we established a few this past weekend.

How did you prepare?

The CBC was helpful with the vendor kit. They provided services for exhibitors (at a cost) but also clear breakdowns to assist with planning. We also have past checklist for events like this that we refer too.

Did you make any connection that could change your businesses trajectory immediately?

That is TBD but we did build with entities that have the "potential" to speed up our success rate. When attending an event like the CBC you connect with some many people of influence. There were potential opportunities for business funding, partnerships and/or government large purchases. We are excited to hear back from all those follow up emails.

What did you want to accomplish from exhibiting at the CBCF conference?

Exhibiting at conferences like the CBC enables us to have intimate conversation about our products and/or our competitors and that information is critical to our growth. We were able make money, build new relationships and gather quality information. Therefore, we did accomplish our goals at the conference.

Listed below are some social media images from this past weekend. These are new customers. Welcome to the Magnepels Family
